How to relieve back pain during pregnancy?
A growing belly and ligament-loosening hormones explain why your back aches — here are simple daily habits that help.
As the belly grows, the center of gravity shifts forward and the lower back arches more to compensate, putting extra strain on the lumbar muscles and joints. Relaxin, a pregnancy hormone, also loosens the pelvic ligaments, which can add to the feeling of instability.
Gentle daily stretches for the back and hips help release built-up tension. Slow cat-cow stretches on hands and knees, or simply sitting on an exercise ball for a few minutes a day, are often well tolerated and appreciated.

Wearing a maternity support belt during long periods of standing, lifting heavy objects by bending the knees rather than the back, and alternating between sitting and standing throughout the day also reduce muscle fatigue.
If the pain becomes intense, radiates down one leg, or comes with fever, vaginal bleeding, or regular contractions, seek care promptly — these signs can point to something beyond ordinary muscle strain, such as marked sciatica or early preterm labor.
